Overview

ScriptX is a third-party application that enables web-based printing via an internet browser. ScriptX is required for all badge printing through Badge[on]Demand and needs to be installed on each PC on which printing is done. All equipment rented from Expo Logic will come with ScriptX installed.

In addition to general information, this article gives guidance on updating ScriptX when badges won't print from Badge[on]Demand due to a variety of possible errors mentioning the ScriptX license.

Note: For client owned equipment or equipment rented from a third-party,
badge[on]demand will now detect if the correct version of ScriptX has
been installed and will prompt users to install or upgrade upon logging in to
the system.

ScriptX Versions

ScriptX will often release upgrades and new versions, so it is important to have the most recent version installed on the PC you are printing from.

To find the most recent version, check the following URL for the User Upgrade:

The most recent version will be in Parentheses at the bottom of the page. You can also download the installer for the most recent version on this page by clicking the orange Download Installer button:

There is no need to un-install the existing version of ScriptX to upgrade.

You can check which version ScriptX is currently installed on your PC by navigating to the ScriptX Services dashboard. In your browser, type the following into your URL bar: http://127.0.0.1:41191/ . The installed version of ScriptX will be shown at the top of the page:

    • Note: this is the current version as of March 2024

Web Browser

Using ScriptX

ScriptX pulls the print settings from the printer manager on the PC and needs to be restarted whenever a settings change is made. For example, a restart of ScriptX is needed after changes to any of the following settings:

  • Stock Size
  • Rotate or Positioning
  • Default Printer Selected

To restart ScriptX, navigate to http://127.0.0.1:41191/ and click Restart ScriptX Services
